Milikien | Family Session | Boerne, Texas

This session marks the 5th year of photoshoots with this rambunctious bunch. Their energy and jokes and goofy faces are only getting better with age. I'm looking forward to the ideas they'll bring to the table when they're all in their teens. They'll give me a run for my money, but it'll be so worth it. No matter what they come up with they will ALWAYS be forced to participate in the first pose. I'm ready for the eye rolls and lots of "seriously Julia?"

Bring it on.

Of course we must pay homage to this guy's incredible double chin skills. Nobody can compare. I'm in awe little dude. You win.

& we must close this photo adventure with one that encompasses their whole generation...

There's so much spinning around in my head right now. I've pushed past how things were supposed to look and I can once again dream of what they could instead be. This time though? I've grown a bit. I've come face to face with the fact that a dream without execution is crap. My greatest resistance in life is my own laziness. Nothing will come to fruition without action. No more excuses. No more blame. It's time to do the work that must be done.

"Are you a born writer? Were you put on earth to be a painter, a scientist, an apostle of peace? In the end the question can only be answered by action.

Do it or don't do it.

It may help to think of it this way. If you were meant to cure cancer or write a symphony or crack cold fusion and you don't do it, you not only hurt yourself, even destroy yourself. You hurt your children. You hurt me. You hurt the planet.

You shame the angels who watch over you and you spite the Almighty, who created you and only you with your unique gifts, for the sole purpose of nudging the human race one millimeter farther along its path back to God.

Creative work is not a selfish act or a bid for attention on the part of the actor. It's a gift to the world and every being in it. Don't cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you've got."

Espinoza-Danley | Family Session | San Antonio, Texas

It was a hot and busy Texas day... I think that's how you could describe all of my Spring sessions this year! I'm just glad I finally got a non-windy one. Also, we had shade and that's the bombdotcom for a hot Spring day. Regardless of the temperature these family members were troopers! They persevered with giggles and searches to find the best stick as we hung out in the park. Side note: I'm learning that all you need to have a happy kiddo at a photoshoot is sticks, just keep your fingers crossed that nobody is in the way when someone spins around holding one that's bigger than they are.

This family was the sweetest and it was such an honor to get to capture them all at this time in their lives!

Jennifer | Maternity Session | New Braunfels, Texas

Do you remember the Big Sister Announcement I shared earlier this year? Well, it's almost time for that incredibly excited big-sister-to-be to meet her little brother. While her gorgeous mom is the center of this session, big sister was certainly the boss. I think she did one heck of a job too! She was all about directing the session and made sure we did lots of walking photos (her favorite), picked where we all stood, and even got to tell her parents what to do. It was basically every big sister's dream. Zero complaints from me because the session turned out amazing (it doesn't hurt that Jennifer is quite the bombshell).

We can't wait to meet you, little guy!

Jennings + Jordan | Engagement Session | New Braunfels, Texas

You know that peace that comes when you're exactly where you're supposed to be? One of the ways we experience this is at the moment that we realize we're meant to be with someone. All of a sudden there's a calmness that overcomes you and no matter how insane life was or will be, you have peace because you know that right where you're standing, next to that person you love, is exactly where you are supposed to be. Jennings and Jordan embody that peace.

We began our session at the ever gorgeous Allen Farmhaus (side note: their tagline is "Hitched in the Hay" and I think they win for that one right there) and it was another incredibly windy day. They brought their sweet dog Mia along with them and we finished up in the wildflowers. It was an absolute joy to capture their peace and I hope a little bit rubs off on you too through the photos!
